The beginning of this disease is the rise of LDL cholesterol in the body. Cholesterol that oxidized by free radicals will cause accumulation of plaques in blood artery that cause narrowing of blood artery. Formed plaque can block blood circulation and oxygen that is required by the body tissue.

Atherosclerosis occurs due to narrowing of blood artery because the increased of fat piles inside blood artery that would block blood circulation. Researchers explained that oxidative stress is a causative factor of vascular endothelial dysfunction.
