Knowing Arthritis

Monday, May 17th, 2010

ArthritisArthritis is the greatest enemy to our knees. Caused by an injury, illness or simply because of age / aging, arthritis causes pain and joint damage that can lead to knee and hip replacement. Arthritis is a cause of chronic disability in the United States and there are approximately 40 million American citizens who have arthritis.

There are 3 basic types of arthritis that can cause pain in the hip and knee, which are: osteoarthritis and inflammatory arthritis (arthritis due to inflammation / infection, generally was rheumatoid arthritis), and traumatic arthritis or arthritis due to injury.

Because of pain, patients usually have difficulty with movement and are reluctant to do sport activities. Never force a movement if you experienced clear and sharp pain or discomfort more than usual on your joints.
