Prevention of Amoebiasis problemAmoebiasis is a disease of the colon infection that is caused by intestinal comensal parasites. This disease is spread almost all over the world especially in the tropical areas of developing countries. Usually are caused by the factors of population density, individual hygiene and environmental sanitation and socio-economic conditions and a lack of cultural which can support health behavi

Amoebiasis cases are still can be seen, whether at the community health centers or in a doctor practice, but the handling is sometimes inadequate, so it can emerge complications (difficulties) which is more dangerous. So it’s good to know about cases of amoebiasis in order to have proper handling and prevention.

1. Germs that cause Amoebiasis.
Entamoeba histolytic is an intestinal protozoa, often living as a comensal (apatogen = does not cause disease) in human colon. If the body condition is allow it can turn into pathogens (forming colonies in the intestinal wall, penetrate the intestinal wall and cause inflammation). There are 2 kinds of life cycle that are trofozoit forms which could moves and cysts form which can survive.

2.Type of cases of Amoebiasis.
Amoeba germs can affect into the intestine, causing cases of Acute Intestinal Amoebiasis, Intestinal Chronic Amoebiasis (carrier), or infection outside the in which is mainly caused Liver Amoebiasis and Pulmonary Amoebiasis.

3. Clinical symptoms of Amoebiasis.
Amoebiasis Carrier (cyst passer): there are no clinical symptoms at all, because the amoeba in the colon lumen, did not make the invasion to the intestinal wall.
o Light Intestinal Amoebiasis: the symptoms appear gradually, usually complain about flatulent, sometimes having light pain in the stomach like cramps. Light diarrhea, 4-5 times a day, smelly feces, mix with blood and mucus, and a little tenderness in the gut area.

o Medium Intestinal Amoebiasis: complaints and clinical symptoms are more severe than light dysentery, but still able to perform daily activities. Feces with blood and mucus with cramps in the stomach, fever and weaken body.

o Severe Intestinal Amoebiasis: having diarrhea accompanied by a lot of blood, more than 15 times a day, high fever (40 degrees Celsius-40, 5 degrees Celsius), accompanied by nausea and anemia.

o Chronic Amoebiasis: the symptoms are like a light amoeba dysentery, diarrhea attacks along with normal period or without symptoms. Diarrhea attacks usually occur because of fatigue, fever or foods which are difficult to digested.

4. Amoebiasis disease Handling.
Drug of amoebisid (amoeba destruction) does not work effectively at all places of infection, especially when it’s given a single dose, which combined to increase the effectiveness of treatment. Consult to a doctor immediately, at the nearest health center.

5. Prevention of Amoebiasis problem.
Food and drinking water should be cooked well, because the cysts will perish when it’s heated 50 degrees Celsius for 5 minutes. It’s important for having a family latrine, isolation and treatment for the carrier. Especially for a carrier (carrier cyst disease) it is forbidden to work as a cook or any job that are related to food.

Thus a brief exposure about amoebiasis cases, from the various sources of health reference. Hopefully it can be useful as a comparison of the health information.

high glycemic indexThis glycemic level will not be complete if we did not discuss its digestion process. When we consume sugar in any form of carbohydrates, whether from food that has high glycemic index such as bread or low glycemic index like beans, the pancreas produces the major metabolic hormone called insulin. The task of insulin is to help the sugar to enter the cells, so that can be converted into energy by the mitochondria, and if the consumption of sugar is exceed, the insulin will save them for later use. When we eat sugar in sufficient quantities, the pancreas will produce enough insulin for it.

The problem is when we consume too much sugar, especially sugar that is easily absorbed then the production of insulin will be increase. If this happen for a long time, the body will get used to this insulin increase and as a result, for the same amount of sugar, it will produce more insulin. Just like drug addiction.

First of all drugs in certain doses could heal. But if the pain replies and also having too much drugs, the body will get used to the drug and its effect is reduced, so that for the same illness, it is required more doses. This could turn into a horrible cycle. When the amount of insulin is more than sugar, the body encourages us to consume more sugar (the opposites). And as we consume sugar, the body will produce insulin rapidly in large quantities and continues like that.

At the same time, all the excess sugar is stored in the form of fat, which slows the metabolism and causes various diseases of dementia, heart disease and cancer. This is called prediabetic, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance or X syndrome.
