Traveling during the holidays is always fun. Actually, this has become one of our schedule that we look forward to all year. But do you know, even people with disabilities were happy to travel. They were happy to get out of the limits of their wheelchairs, enjoy their lives fully, and realize that there is still a beautiful world out there waiting for them.
However, there are several considerations for wheelchair users in preparing and planning the trip, like: varieties of locations and hotels, flights and travel, and medicines and their mobility. To choose where to go and to stay, if you book your hotel directly via telephone, email the hotel and ask them to confirm your booking by sending a booking confirmation reference code to you. This will be proof of your booking when you get there, just in case if there any unexpected reason, like your hotel reservations rejected.
In selecting a plane for your trip, remember that not all airlines have the same policy towards people with disabilities. About your medication and mobility, some airlines will require a “health certificate to travel” from your doctor and a letter stating that you take certain drugs. A letter from your doctor may be useful if you are stopped by immigration check and if you need certain medicines. However, everyone is entitled to enjoy everything.
Are you disabled or not, you should always make an extra effort in keeping yourself from unexpected incidents especially during travel. It is better to set certain limits on your activities to avoid unwanted things to happen. As for people who have disabilities, take your time to have fun, but always remember that your actions a little bit limited compared to other people.
